The new year brings promise of great things ahead. People everywhere are making resolutions, looking forward to what the new year may bring, and developing plans to help them reach their goals.
Veteran’s Day, a time to step back and remember our service men and women. Whether during a time of war or peace, they deserve a hearty thank you for their service, and commitment to protect our freedom. Thank you to those who have served, are currently serving, and the fallen heroes. We appreciate all you do to support and protect our great nation.
Francina stayed with that company, even relocating to Michigan, and worked her way up to eventually running several branches. “Every day when I went to that cubicle, I imagined that I was walking into my own office. I treated every one of those customers as though they were my own personal clients.”
For Debbie Gellatly, getting started in the tax preparation business was certainly an uphill climb, if not an outright attempt to move mountains. When her contemporaries were in college, Debbie was getting married. (She was widowed at age 22, while expecting her first daughter.)
Sandy’s dedication reaches beyond her family and clients. She has been a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) for 21 years and was chosen by the NATP as its 2009 Tax Professional of the Year. “It means so much to me to be chosen,” she says. “It says the work I do matters. When your peers choose you, that is pretty life changing.”
Himes’s story begins when she was a high-school student in West Virginia. She enjoyed serving others and was good with numbers, so it made sense that her dream was to someday become an accountant.
Jim Lowe of Asheville Tax & Accounting isn’t southern by birth, but please don’t hold that against him. “I’m a Yankee,” Jim, who was born in Pennsylvania, admits with a laugh.
